What more could you want to softly land into 2024, than learning a new skill alongside tea and cake? Tea and Tarot are offering a Tarot Workshop for anyone even a little curious about Tarot. The two-and-a-half-hour workshop will include how to interpret a Tarot card, make friends with the so-called ‘badass’ cards and you’ll even get to do your own mini-reading, even if you’ve never picked up a deck before. Tea and cake at Metrodeco are included. Tickets are £49.

Sauna Storytelling Saturdays

If you’re planning a relaxing start to the New Year, then it might be a good time to indulge in Brighton’s emerging sauna culture this January. One of the newest saunas in the city is a community one; Stanmer Sauna Garden at Stanmer Park, which opened in November. To start with, it’s open to the public on Saturdays from 9 am to 11 am and 1 pm to 3 pm at a very reasonable £15 for a session.

In the middle of those sessions, there is a storytelling session every Saturday with Fleur Shorthouse Hemmings, which includes treatments and whisking, for £22. Every week Fleur, who has 30 years of experience in teaching philosophy and working with stories, will be taking storytelling attendees on a journey through various myths. Booking essential.

Where: Stanmer Sauna Garden, Stanmer Park

When: Saturdays 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th January 2024. Meet at One Garden Cafe at 10.30 am.

There are quite a lot of sound bath experiences available in Brighton and this one really stands out because it includes live piano and is very reasonably priced. What we love about this one is you can reserve a seat (from £7.50) or a yoga mat (from £11.25) so no need to bring anything. Expect vocals, candles and ultimately relaxation.

Seed Talks cover interesting topics and happen across the UK. There’s a really exciting programme in Brighton this January and this is one that’s caught our attention. Evolutionary anthropologist, writer and broadcaster Dr Anna Machin will be unravelling why we are attracted to some people and not others.

This event will be a chance to discover the complex neurobiological processes triggered by the first moment of attraction and how that changes over time. Doors open at 7 pm for a 7.30 pm start and there will be a Q+A. Tickets from £13.76 via Eventbrite.

Where: Brighthelm Centre, North Road, BN1 1YD

When: Wednesday 17th January 2024 from 7 pm – 9.15 pm
