basics Volume 1: Live Music & Poetry Event In Brighton

Get ready for an evening of live music and poetry at the upcoming ‘Basics’ event in Brighton. This event will be hosted at the cosy Folklore Rooms on Friday, the 29th of March, from 8 pm to 11 pm.

Come along for an unforgettable experience where talented artists will grace the stage, offering stripped-back performances. The lineup for the evening is nothing short of spectacular.

Leading the way is Kavzad, a rising star in Brighton’s music scene, known for his jazz-infused hip-hop beats. With his collective, he’ll showcase tracks from his debut EP, including the popular single ‘Watch Me’, which has taken the music world by storm, amassing over 350k streams and 15,000 Shazams.

Joining Kavzad is Jed, a BBC Words First finalist whose seamless fusion of music and poetry has garnered widespread acclaim. His honest and relatable verses, coupled with his impressive stage presence, promise to leave a lasting impression.

Another performance on the night will be from Arjun Nala, who is a soulful singer. Nala’s influences span across soul, jazz, and rock. But despite genre, at the forefront of his sound is an astonishing voice that silences crowds.

And let’s not forget the poets, including the remarkable Anna Margarita, whose poignant spoken word performances have earned her millions of views online. She has recently performed at the BBC Contains Strong Language Festival 2023 in Leeds, headlined at notable venues such as The Royal Court, The Bush Theatre, and White City House, and been asked to perform for charities such as fundraising for Grenfell and The Pink Ribbon Foundation.

Tickets for this event are priced at £7 plus the booking fee, and availability is limited. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to experience the raw talent of the finest artists in Brighton as they perform live music and poetry. Please note this is an 18+ event.
