Oh, we do love to be beside the seaside! And what could be more fitting than tucking into a delicious portion of fish and chips whilst you soak up the sun on the beach (sun dependent on the season!)? Brighton is full of fish and chip shops vying for your attention, so we have made things a little simpler for you. Here’s our list of the best places for Fish and Chips in Brighton.
Bardsley’s
Just a short stroll from the city centre, Bardsley’s award-winning Brighton fish restaurant is definitely worth the walk! The business has been family-run for four generations and it was originally founded by the great-grandfather of the family, Ben, who moved to the Brighton area in 1926. Good-sized portions, delicious handmade chips, sustainable fish, and seasonal specials make Bardsleys a must-visit!

Bankers
Bankers (est. 2001) strive to serve only the best quality fish and chips. Their handmade chips are made from different varieties of potatoes (depending on the season) and the portions are a good size too. Their staff also go through a rigorous customer service training programme to ensure that their service is second to none.
Bankers only source fish from sustainable sources and they are the only company in the UK to be awarded the Icelandic Responsible Fisheries Management Award.

Regency Restaurant
The Regency Restaurant has remained one of Brighton’s oldest and most popular seafront restaurants, offering its customers quality and value for money since the 1930s. With portions to satisfy the biggest of appetites, very reasonable prices, some of the most spectacular sea views in Brighton, and a wonderfully cheerful atmosphere, it’s no wonder the Regency has won national acclaim for great quality food at great prices. One visit and you’re hooked!

Palm Court Restaurant
Brighton Pier’s famous Palm Court Restaurant was referred to as the “spiritual home” of fish and chips by chef Heston Blumenthal. So come and try their fabulous fish and chips cooked to perfection. Sit down inside or take them away and walk along the pier – just watch out for those seagulls! Try the famous Seaside celebration meal complete with a glass of bubbly or perhaps you can be tempted by their ‘Big Fish’ signature dish, the choice is yours…

Wolfies of Hove
A family-run business with over 25 years of experience, Wolfies of Hove serves the finest, sustainable fish alongside locally sourced chips. They carefully selected their suppliers to find the best quality, fresh ingredients. Expect tasty, succulent, flaky fish sustainably harvested from the Arctic waters of the North Atlantic. Chips are hand-peeled and chipped, made using a carefully chosen potato sourced from a farm within 20 miles of the shop. Other treats at Wolfies include traditional London Pie, Mash and liquor sauce all handmade and supplied by one of London’s oldest ‘Pie n Mash’ shops. If you plan on taking the little ones there are also great kids’ options including Cod Bites and 100% Chicken breast nuggets.

I can’t believe I’ve never been to Bardsley’s despite living in Brighton for 25 years. I’m ashamed of myself.
The Basketmakers do a nice fish and chips for pretty good value from memory.
Great fish and chips at my local – Saltdean FishBar
Great fish and chips at my local – Saltdean FishBar
The only disgrace is that the list would have been topped by The Chipbasket, except that someone ruined it a few years back.
Afraid I disagree with Wolfies, only been once and it was terrible, tiny portion of chips and a really dry chewy piece of fish, for £6!! Far from fresh or tasty.
Incorrect. Sing Li by Brighton station all the way..Wolfies – nope.
