Tracey Yarad tells We Love Brighton about her Brighton Fringe show All These Pretty Things.
Please tell us about your show:
A musical memoir : Story-telling and original songs. What do you do when your husband leaves you for your teenage goddaughter? You dye your wedding dress black, write some killer songs and make a show #TrueStory
An emotionally raw blend of memoir and song, Tracey Yarad’s All These Pretty Things is a phoenix rising from the ashes story, taking the audience from Australia and the fallout of a devastating divorce following her husband’s affair with their teenage goddaughter, to New York City and an inspiring new life. An evocative portrayal of one woman’s capacity to come back stronger than ever, it is an inspirational testament to the human spirit.
Who is your show for?
My show is for men and women who have been jilted by a lover, partner, husband, or wife at any age or stage of life. My story will make their breakups feel like a picnic in the park (no disrespect intended) all heartache is debilitating and can cause lasting trauma. My show is also for the onlookers who have been lucky in love but can’t help wanting to see what happened (A bit like driving past a crash scene and not wanting to look but…). It’s for lovers of beautiful music, audiences who yearn to hear new music, singer/songwriter/pianist based all original compositions. And lovers of good story-telling.
Why should people come and see it?
Come and see it first and foremost to see how one woman made her breakup into a show (now touring globally) and started a whole new life on the other side of the world. Come and see it to be inspired, moved to tears and laughter. Come and see it to feel the humanity, passion, love, humour, relatability, and raw honesty. Witness the age-old phoenix-rising story.

Have you performed at the Fringe before?
This is my debut at the Brighton Fringe at the Lantern Theatre and Grania Dean.
What do you love about Brighton Fringe?
As this is my first Brighton Fringe, what I love about it is the unknown…the new discoveries I will make, the new friends, the new audiences, the smell of the sea and the history of the city colliding with the fringe on the streets and all around in fabulous pubs, venues, cafes and you name it.
What do you love about Brighton?
Well as you can see from my previous answer, I think I am going to love it. I actually came to Brighton once in the early 1990s before I married the ex. We were together there, I know I am going to love it WAY more knowing I am there without him. (Wink)
Are there any other shows you are excited to see?
OMG YES! I’m going to as many shows as I can humanly fit into five days. These are on my list of top five: END GAME, FIRST LOVE, MADONNA ON THE ROCKS, BEST OF BRIGHTON FRINGE COMEDY and DEADLY SYNTHS
These are all happening while I’m in town but there are so many more I want to see.
All These Pretty Things is on at The Lantern Theatre on May 15 at 7pm, and May 16, 17 and 18 at 9pm.
