Brighton Dome: What’s On This Autumn And Winter

Brighton Dome has unveiled a dazzling Autumn and Winter season of music, theatre, dance, comedy, circus, and more across its three venues. From world-class performers to emerging local talent, the packed programme promises, in the words of Chief Executive Lucy Davies, “something familiar, something special – and something for everyone.”

Brighton Dome: Theatre Highlights

This season’s theatre line-up is unmissable. Eddie Izzard brings their “spectacular” one-person performance of Hamlet to the Dome’s main stage, while Tim Crouch’s cult classic An Oak Tree pairs a different celebrity guest each night with a script they’ve never seen before, past participants have included David Tennant and Sophie Okonedo.

Local legend Victoria Melody presents Trouble, Struggle, Bubble and Squeak, a new commission exploring the radical history of The Diggers, and reggae icon Sutara Gayle, also known as Lorna Gee, brings her powerful autobiographical show Legends of Them.

Music and Talks

Music lovers will be spoiled for choice. From the nu-jazz brilliance of Mark Kavuma and rising star Emma Rawicz to a lively night of salsa storytelling led by Adriana Lord, the season is bursting with fresh sounds.

Literary and cultural heavyweights also take to the stage, including acclaimed author and activist Arundhati Roy in conversation with Afua Hirsch, national treasure Miriam Margolyes sharing her razor-sharp wit, and a deep dive into the mysterious world of fungi with scientist and author Merlin Sheldrake.

Dance, Circus, and Family Fun

Dance takes centre stage in the recently reopened Corn Exchange. Gary Clarke’s DETENTION explores the painful legacy of Section 28 with a local LGBTQ+ cast, while Deciphers blends Chinese and Brazilian dance traditions in a breathtaking exploration of communication. Looking ahead, MÁM will bring Irish myth and magic to Brighton next spring.

Families are in for a treat too, with shows like The Colour of Dinosaurs, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, and the adaptation of Julia Donaldson’s A Squash and a Squeeze. Crafty Kids workshops return with hands-on fun from Halloween shadow puppets to Christmas creations.

Comedy, Cabaret, and Festive Celebrations

The Brighton Dome Comedy Festival returns, featuring over 25 events in nine days. Big names include Sara Pascoe, Stewart Lee, and Ross Noble, alongside family-friendly comedy shows.

December sparkles with festive magic: internationally acclaimed troupe FLIP Fabrique bring their winter spectacular Blizzard, The Snowman returns with live orchestral accompaniment, and Le Gateau Chocolat headlines Musicals Mayhem. The season rounds out with a Christmas ceilidh, drag pageantry at The Snow Ball, and a queer New Year’s Eve bash from Gal Pals and Polyglamorous.
