The life of a Brighton & Hove Albion fan is never boring. Since being promoted to the glittered halls of the Premier League in 2017, the Seagulls have defied the odds, climbing the table season-in, season-out, becoming an established and feared Premier League outfit in their own right.

Under the stewardship of previous managers such as Graham Potter and Roberto De Zerbi, Albion have consistently outshone expectations, while last season’s appointment of Fabian Hurzeler as manager has proven to be an overwhelming success, with Brighton finishing in an impressive eighth position in the table, narrowly missing out on a spot in one of Europe’s coveted competitions.
This coming season promises to be another rollercoaster of emotions for Brighton & Hove Albion fans. Let’s have a look at their prospects for the new season ahead.

Transfer Window
There would be good reason for Brighton & Hove Albion fans to look gloomily at the prospect of another transfer window as a Premier League club. Under the ownership of Tony Bloom, the club have been the envy of their rivals by making incredibly smart acquisitions, consistently making the team stronger. However, as a club with a fraction of the resources of many of their rivals in the Premier League, Brighton fans hold their breath each summer transfer window, as clubs with deep pockets look to prise their star players away.
This summer’s transfer window has been no different, as star players such as Joao Pedro and Evan Ferguson have left to Chelsea for 60 million pounds and AS Roma on loan respectively. Italian giants AC Milan have also opened talks over Brighton’s left-back Pervis Estupinan. As much as it’s a gutting proposition to lose such prodigious talent, Seagulls supporters can rest easy in the knowledge that any large transfer fees received for such players are reinvested wisely back into the business, meaning Brighton & Hove Albion never has to worry about unexpected financial difficulties, putting the club’s very existence in jeopardy.
Brighton & Hove Albion have made a success of replacing their departing talent with new stars over the years, and this summer, Brighton got their transfer business started quickly and efficiently, bringing in rising stars such as Tom Watson from Sunderland, Maxim De Cuyper from Club Brugge, and promising Greek striker Charlampos “Babis” Kostoulas from Olympiacos.

While these players are far from household names yet, Brighton’s history of nurturing talent means their futures on the pitch promise to be as exciting as ever.
The Manager
It’s not only Brighton’s star players that Seagulls fans have to keep a watchful eye on during the summer transfer window. Tony Bloom and co have made an impressive habit of hiring the very best in coaching talent over the years.
After former head coach Roberto De Zerbi left the Seagulls for pastures new, many fans held their breath to see who the chairman would hire to replace him, and more importantly, if the new coach could replicate the success that De Zerbi had brought to the Amex Stadium.
Under De Zerbi, Brighton fans not only posed a consistent threat to the Premier League’s big clubs, they also qualified for the UEFA Europa League, playing European football on the south coast for the very first time in their history.
But rather unsurprisingly to Brighton fans, Tony Bloom’s choice for a managerial replacement to De Zerbi, German coach Fabian Hurzeler, proved to be an overwhelming success in his first full season in charge of the Seagulls.
Cultivating a style of expressive attacking football that made him a coach to watch in his native Germany, Hurzeler looked unfazed making the step up to the Premier League, guiding Brighton to an impressive eighth position in an increasingly competitive English top tier.
Thankfully for Brighton fans, Hurzeler has no plans of jumping ship from Brighton in the near future and is fully focused on another season of success on the pitch.

Prospects for the New Season
This season, Hurzeler has a big challenge on his hands to maintain the success of previous seasons, with Brighton consistently punching above their weight and becoming an established team in their own right. While star players have left the squad, Hurzeler’s superb man-management and keen eye for nurturing rising talent stands him and the team in good stead for what will be another challenging season in the Premier League. If he can get the new additions in the team clicking with the current crop of seasoned talent then Brighton and Hove Albion fans can look forward to another season of success on and off the pitch.
Whilst finishing in eighth position in the Premier League would be considered an unbelievable achievement for most teams in this modern age of football, ask any Brighton fan and they would take a piece of silverware over league position any day of the week. Brighton have fared well in cup competitions both domestic and abroad in recent years, reaching the semi-finals on the FA Cup on two occasions, in 2023 and 2019. After watching fellow Premier League giant-fellers Crystal Palace win the trophy last year, many Seagulls fans will be hoping Fabian Hurzeler can guide the team to domestic silverware in the coming season.
With the new season fast approaching, Brighton fans will be glued to their phones, checking if Tony Bloom and company are planning any more last minute additions to the team. Brighton’s pre-season results have been promising and the hope will be that they can take this form into the new season where a good start with positive results can define a campaign on the pitch. Thankfully, though, Brighton and Hove Albion have made a fashion of upsetting the odds, making fast starts and consistently keeping up with the lightning fast pace of the Premier League from the off. The new season promises to bring its challenges, but if Brighton can fix their inconsistent home form, the new campaign could bring more success on the pitch than ever before.
