What is Bogan Bingo for anyone who doesn’t know?
It’s bingo – but not as your nan knows it. Think two Aussie blokes with long flowing mullets and very short shorts, one calling numbers, the other blasting 80s bangers. It’s part game show, part comedy gig, part rock’n’roll party. Expect power ballads, air guitar, dodgy prizes and zero chance of a quiet night. It’s high energy, fun and completely ridiculous.
Who is in Bogan Bingo and what’s your/their connection to Brighton?
It started with a couple of us and grew to a small army of Aussie misfits who had washed up in the UK for one reason or another. Brighton took us in early on and never let go. It’s been our spiritual home for a decade now. We’ve celebrated birthdays, brunches, breakdowns (emotional and mechanical), hen parties, divorce celebrations and everything in between. One of our hosts had a massive night down here once and just never went home – he’s been living down here since.
You’re celebrating an anniversary—congrats! How does it feel to be here now, and how did it all begin?
Cheers! It’s honestly a bit surreal – we thought it had about six months of legs in it but here we are. The specifics of the day it all started are a bit hazy. Years ago we found an old bingo set in a pub during a Sunday session, had a few too many and woke up the next morning with “Bogan Bingo” scribbled on a napkin – right next to a kebab stain and someone’s phone number I never called. We thought, “Let’s give it a go – worst case, we go back to doing clinical trials for cash again.” Instead, it took off. Komedia in Brighton gave us a shot and now we’re still here, still loud and somehow still being allowed back into the venue every month.

What do you love about running Bogan Bingo?
The absolute chaos. Watching someone belt out “Total Eclipse of the Heart” like their life depends on it. Seeing strangers become best mates over a shared love of air guitar. And knowing that no two audiences are ever the same – except that they all end in mayhem and group photos no one remembers taking.
What do you love about Brighton?
Everything. The people, the energy, the fact you can walk down the street dressed like a glittery pirate and no one bats an eye. Brighton crowds just get us – wild, weird and always up for a party. We came here for a one-night gig and ended up sticking around for a decade.
What have you been up to—and what’s coming next?
We’ve been celebrating our 10th year with some awesome Brighton shows and chaotic bottomless brunches. Coming up?
More mullets, mayhem and madness – new bangers, fresh choreography, bigger prizes. More Bottomless brunch dates for 2026 plus our XXXmas Party Shows which always sell out. Get involved with those ASAP if you want a Xmas Party that doesn’t suck.
