Please tell us who you are for anyone who doesn’t already know.

I’m Felix Le Freak, a delightful, semi-detached property with stunning rear views and character features. When I’m not snatching trophies or staging spectacles of absolute nonsense, I enjoy long walks on the seafront and cosy nights at home with my beloved clutch of salamander eggs. I’m also the winner of Drag Idol UK (but I don’t like to talk about it).

What have you been up to and what do you have coming up?

It’s been a pretty incredible summer. I premiered my one-queen musical comedy Men and Other Problems at Brighton Fringe and packed out the week run, leaving audiences laughing, sobbing and/or utterly furious. Felix & Friends returned to The Walrus, bringing its anarchic brand of modern cabaret to new audiences. I’ve also been hosting Quizzy? …or quizzn’t she? at The Actors, gearing up for the Queertown stage at Brighton Pride and zipping around the country for assorted cabaret spots.

What is your connection to Brighton?

I very nearly came to study film studies at Sussex some 19 years ago. I ended up taking a year out and studying theatre-making in London instead. However, Brighton continued to call out to me. I could hear its voice – specifically a solicitor named Alan who was tangled in a harness in the bushes on Duke’s Mound. When you hear that clarion call, you know it’s time to up sticks and be beside the sea. We humans evolved to be near water. Just look at Alan.

What do you love about Brighton?

Brighton is for everyone. It’s a bohemia fizzing with personality and there’s always something to do. Different communities and subcultures bustle about next to each other with all the ease of a capital city and none of the grey-suited stress. That and all the 24-hour off licences.

Anything else you would like to share with our readers?

I’m super excited about the next edition of Felix & Friends on Thursday August 14 downstairs at The Walrus. We’ve got a wonderful mix of surreal stand-up, stunning vocals and performance art lip-sync. The theme for August is ‘Life is a Cabaret’ and I’m interested in exploring our current cultural moment and its parallels with Weimar cabaret and rising fascism. But with lols!
