Brighton Wellness Festival – The Launch Party

It was with anticipation and excitement that I made my way to Platf9rm co-working space in Hove to attend the launch party of the 2025 Brighton Wellness Festival

Taking place between October 1 to 8 is a new set up for Brighton, founded by Natasha Jackson. Brighton Wellness Festival calls for a new era of wellness. Natasha spoke about the obvious setting of Brighton for a wellness event, as a city that focuses on joyful living. She also called for the need for wellness to be adapted to more of a collective wellbeing, taking into account sociopolitical environments. This offers an alternative perspective in comparison to a lot of wellbeing events that focus on self healing on an individual level and so left me feeling hopeful for this new festival.

What was the evening all about? With zero expectations, I found myself immersed in multiple taster experiences ranging from breathwork by grounded life practitioners to music therapy by producer Becky Wixon (@fluxsounds on social media)  The launch party lasted three hours and every minute was thought through so it went quickly!

With a main stage of experiences we moved, sighed and connected with our bodies through a 10cminute flow state exercise. We were also invited to indulge the taste sense as for an optional extra price the attendees could sample tasty Persian food prepared by Ta’ârof, a generous organisation that engages people with vulnerabilities with food from different cultures.

It is clear that amazing work is being done in this field and this evening was an authentic showcase of that. I felt greatly that everyone contributing was wholly invested in what they were offering.

And how could I not mention the shamanic drumming from Soul Lullaby? The highlight of the evening for me was a moving ritual held by healer Jeng Lohachal, who lulled the audience into a trance like state and encouraged deep communication with our hearts.

All in all a superb evening that felt uniquely safe and sociable at the same time. I left feeling empowered to continue practices that make me feel more embodied and connect more with this diverse and skilled group of wellness practitioners, who are doing great good in the world!
