At Five’s Keep On Movin’ Tour, absolute nostalgia flooded into the audience at this iconic event of this band’s reunion after a 25 year hiatus.
It was Friday night and we were ready to get on up. The atmosphere at the Brighton Centre was tense and buzzing as fans found their seats and standing positions. The support was DJ Mistajam who intensified the excitement with a throw back set which included dance hits. His energy was happy and playful and got us all pumped up for the main act – the boyband Five. Or is it spelt 5ive?!

Five Tour: 5 Facts About Their 90s Hits
Boy Band Five To Kick Off Reunion Tour in Brighton
The five boys turned men now appeared and immediately kicked off with “If ya getting down”. The band have been oh so secretive about the setlist in radio interviews so it was all a surprise. Most of their songs included similar choreography that was impressive for a group of men who were bouncing around the stage as still the bundles of energy they were back in the 90s.

The response from the audience was totally fanatical. With half of the spectators wearing merchandise t-shirts brandishing lyrical slogans including lines such as “wiggy wiggy let’s get jiggy” it was evident that a loyalty to the band still remained after a long time.

Jay was the first to speak up about the break up of the band and was extremely honest about how emotional that time was. When not singing the classics, context around what happened 25 years ago was discussed amongst the members with authentic reflections on a different era. I appreciated seeing a soft camaraderie from the Five boys.
Lots of their songs had stuck with me and I found myself singing lyrics I have zero clue how I still remembered, brought back to the forefront of my mind from childhood. I laughed, danced and reminisced about which one had been on a poster on my bedroom wall when I was a young girl and an avid follower of their upbeat and motivational bangers.

The concert came to a close with colourful streamers and fierce pyrotechnics as everyone bid a farewell to Five. Who knows what is on the horizon next and whether this revival will gain more momentum as they carry on their UK tour. Or will the band decide to retire… again? Whatever happens, it felt as though it was a hugely satisfying experience for the men from Five and a fine story of reconciliation that was amazing to witness.
Five Keep On Movin’ Tour takes place in major cities around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, before jetsetting down under to Australia and New Zealand in 2026. For further info, visit their website https://itsfiveofficial.com/or Instagram @itsfiveofficial.
