INERTIA is a captivating show from Cirko Norda Youth Circus and Newcastle Circus Arts, which showed at Little Puck at The Circus Yard as part of Brighton Fringe. The show gives a powerful insight to the concept of inertia, “the resistance to change,” through the way the performers breathtakingly express with their bodies.
INERTIA includes storytelling demonstrated and felt through movement. Nothing is arbitrary, every decision on the stage brings a reflection beyond the acrobatics and precision of the show.

Every decision gave me an opportunity to reflect about the challenges of life. INERTIA “inspires audiences to push beyond personal and societal boundaries.” I feel this was exactly what was happening.
Cirko Norda Youth Circus works with artists of different ages, which is thought-provoking. I believe in life, when we are younger we have a marvellous power to play. Sadly when we grow older we lose that beautiful knowledge of our childhood, the sense of surprise and imagination. This kind of show brings back the soul to our hearts.
I want to share these deep words from my 11-year-old daughter. “The magical thing about the performance was how the young actors made eye contact with each other, helped each other and got happy after the others did stuff. It shows me a way of empathy that barely happens now. It was a whole experience, from the moment you get in, until the last second you are there. Also the way they represented the colours; red and white surprised a lot.
If I had to use one word to describe this performance it would be… magical.
