Komedia Christmas Party: Review

Komedia has launched the festive season in true Brighton style, with great food, big laughs and a dancefloor that absolutely delivers. I attended the opening night on December 4, and the evening showcased just how much Komedia excels at bringing people together for a proper night out.

On arrival we were seated at a table set for Christmas, complete with crackers and friendly servers who helped us set up a drinks tab with ease. The drinks menu is generous, with wines, beers, ciders and crowd-pleasing cocktail pitchers; our Long Island Iced Tea kept spirits high all night.

Dinner began with a nostalgic prawn cocktail and a warming butternut squash soup, both served with soft bread and butter. Mains were impressively put together for such a large event: the lentil loaf with rich gravy and roast vegetables was hearty and satisfying, while the roasted salmon with lemon sauce and potato dauphinoise was refined and full of flavour. Desserts: a zingy lemon tart and a rich chocolate torte, were the ideal finish.

The entertainment was the real highlight. Jeff Innocent expertly hosted the night with sharp humour and easy confidence, giving us a real taste of Brighton comedy. Eddy Brimson opened with witty, relaxed storytelling, building an instant rapport with the audience. His wife, Lou Conran, followed with a brilliantly candid set that mixed personal insight with fearless humour around sexuality and menopause: refreshing, bold and very funny. Together, the line-up felt cleverly curated and full of personality.

After the comedy, the room was transformed for the after-party, the disco ball lit up and the dance floor filled instantly. It was the perfect festive ending: joyful, lively and distinctly Komedia.

Komedia’s Christmas Party is a warm, generous celebration packed with great food, strong comedy and a brilliant late-night atmosphere. For anyone looking for a Brighton night out that feels festive without being clichéd, it’s a standout choice.

Komedia Christmas Party on December 11, 12, 13, 19 and 20.
