Since 2021, Seed Talks has worked around the UK to plant the seed of knowledge on a range of fascinating moral, scientific and social topics ranging from the psychology and science of drugs, love, kink and ADHD, to cults, witchcraft and the multiverse. I was lucky to attend one of these talks hosted by Dr Shirin Khanjani on the Science of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), held at Brighton’s Brighthelm Centre on Wednesday 26th March.
The Venue
The Brighthelm Centre is a centrally-located community centre, home to a range of meetings, talks and events since 1987. Just a few minutes away from Brighton Station, just off the bustling North Road, it’s an impressive building sporting a spacious high-ceilinged auditorium hall, and a range of meeting and conference rooms.
The Vibe
The talk itself struck the perfect balance between accessibility, interest and scientific depth, expertly walking us through the complex scientific processes underpinning the condition, as well as the reasons behind the symptoms and lived experience of people with PCOS. Dr Khanjani was extremely professional, friendly and expert in her field, offering regular check-ins with us and leaving plenty of opportunities for us to ask as many questions as we liked. She guided us through a range of evidence-based strategies for managing the condition, from specific supplements, lifestyle changes and medication options, evaluating each and leaving space for the audience to share their experience.

Seed Talks: The Verdict
