Nathaniel J Hall’s critically acclaimed play Toxic is set to captivate Brighton audiences this spring as part of its eagerly anticipated UK tour. Following a sell-out debut at HOME in Manchester in 2023, Hall will bring his powerful and semi-autobiographical performance to The Old Market on May 6th and 7th, 2025.

Co-written and performed alongside Josh-Susan Enright, Toxic dives into the chaotic world of Manchester’s underground queer rave scene, telling the story of two people who “meet, fall in love, and f*ck it up.” The play shines a light on the lasting impact of societal homophobia, racism, toxic gender norms, and HIV stigma, peeling back the glittering facade of pride to expose the challenges that many still face.
Hall, renowned for his activism and his role in It’s A Sin, brings raw authenticity to the stage, reflecting on his own experiences of self-destructive behaviour and turbulent relationships. Through storytelling, movement, original music, and striking club visuals, Toxic delivers a rollercoaster of laughter and heartbreak.

Brighton is the perfect backdrop for this powerful production. The city’s audiences can expect a deeply resonant experience that celebrates resilience while addressing the complexities of identity and belonging.
