Brighton Bier’s owners have announced the brewery has closed.
The 15-barrel Brighton-based brewery was established in 2012 and produced beers that were available throughout the UK and exported to Europe and Asia.
The owners wrote on social media: “We are sad to announce that Brighton Bier brewery has ceased trading. This does not affect Brighton Bierhaus, Haus on the Hill, The Drop or West Tap. Thank you to all our customers. We’ve fought to avoid this happening, but sadly have been unable to prevent closing.”
The owners were clear to point out that pubs Brighton Bierhaus, Haus on the Hill, The Drop and West Tap are separate businesses.
In a statement posted on social media sites, they attributed the brewery closure to market pressures with reduced margins, high costs, and increases in price of materials, combined with the current economic conditions.
They added: “We will publish a fuller statement in due course.”
One X user responded to the news: “So sorry to hear this news. I have always enjoyed Brighton Bier – especially Downtown Charlie Brown. I remember during the pandemic when pubs were closed buying Freshman cask from the door of the Bierhaus to take to a friend who was isolating. It made her very happy.”
