Brighton book lovers are in for a treat next summer as acclaimed US humourist and bestselling author David Sedaris opens his highly anticipated 2026 UK tour at the Theatre Royal Brighton on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
Known for his sharp wit, dry humour and knack for uncovering the absurdities of everyday life, Sedaris has become one of America’s most beloved storytellers. His work spans bestselling essay collections including Me Talk Pretty One Day, Calypso and The Best of Me, as well as his long-running BBC Radio 4 series Meet David Sedaris.

Across nine UK dates, Sedaris will perform new and unpublished stories, answer audience questions, and take part in post-show book signings – a tradition that has become a hallmark of his events. With his wry observations on family, travel, ageing, politics and even roadside rubbish, audiences can expect an evening that is as poignant as it is hilarious.
“Sedaris ain’t the preeminent humorist of his generation by accident.” – Entertainment Weekly
Over his career, Sedaris has sold more than 16 million books worldwide, had his writing translated into 32 languages, and received nominations for five Grammy Awards for Best Spoken Word and Best Comedy Album. His most recent book, Happy-Go-Lucky, debuted at number one on the New York Times bestseller list.
