This autumn, Theatre Royal Brighton welcomes a thrilling new stage production of The Talented Mr Ripley, running from Monday October 27 to Saturday November 1 2025. Adapted from Patricia Highsmith’s iconic novel, the production marks the first-ever UK tour of the story that inspired both the Oscar-nominated 1999 film and the recent Netflix series starring Andrew Scott.
A masterclass in psychological suspense, The Talented Mr Ripley follows the enigmatic and dangerously charming Tom Ripley, a man who yearns for a better life — and is willing to do anything to get it. When he’s offered a trip to Italy to retrieve the wealthy and carefree Dickie Greenleaf, Tom is swept into a glittering world of privilege and pleasure. But his fascination with Dickie soon curdles into obsession, and his web of lies begins to spiral into something far darker.

Set against the sun-soaked glamour of 1950s Italy, this gripping adaptation promises audiences a tense, seductive journey through identity, deceit, and ambition. With razor-sharp dialogue and a hauntingly charismatic antihero, Ripley’s story plays out like a slow-burning thriller that simmers with psychological complexity.
Directed and adapted by Mark Leipacher, the production is from acclaimed theatre company The Faction, known for their inventive storytelling and bold reimaginings. Leipacher’s previous credits include Mary Stuart and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, both widely praised for their dynamic staging and emotional depth.
The creative team includes set and costume designer Holly Piggott (Fleabag, Wyndham’s Theatre), lighting designer Zeynep Kepekli (The Little Mermaid, Bristol Old Vic), and sound designer Max Pappenheim (The Night of the Iguana, Noël Coward Theatre). Casting will be announced soon, with anticipation already building for who will step into Ripley’s chillingly complex shoes.
Produced by Jack Maple and Thomas Hopkins, whose credits span everything from Spring Awakening to This Bitter Earth, this is set to be one of the season’s most talked-about theatrical events.
