DIDO at Brighton Fringe 2024: Inspiration

DIDO draws inspiration from the myth of Dido and Aeneas, but with a modern twist. Basaran reimagines the story of Carthage’s Queen Dido and the Trojan hero Aeneas, drawing upon the works of Christopher Marlowe (“Dido, Queen of Carthage”) and Virgil (“Dido and Aeneas”).

Basaran incorporates video projections and an original score featuring a unique interpretation of Henry Purcell’s famous lament. The result is a stunning visual and auditory tapestry that complements the powerful storytelling.
