Situated near the beautiful Royal Pavilion is Hello My Moon Cafe, a vegan and vegetarian Brighton cafe, which serves a unique blend of Mediterranean and Arab Food. Later, the cafe offers a variety of evening drinks and cocktails which can be enjoyed with delicious Borek pastries, homemade dips with warm bread and toasties that are served all day.

As I entered the Brighton cafe, I felt instantly welcomed by the incredibly friendly staff and cosy furnishings. Plants hang from the ceilings, decorative pillows adorn the seats, and a marble aesthetic runs through the cafe. This is paired with an exposed brick wall, creating a trendy but cosy atmosphere.

Although the menu is not overly large, it consists of several breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack options. The morning menu offers a variety of elaborate, toast options, as well as porridge, which are all lightly influenced by the owner’s Syrian roots.

The food at Hello My Moon

I started off with a dirty chai latte, served with a complimentary date, which was light, tasty and creamy. To follow, I had the avocado toast with an additional fried egg, from the morning menu. The flavour of the egg, mixed with the fresh avocado and lightly toasted bread, made for a very enjoyable breakfast.

Also, the addition of pomegranate, mint and hummus was a delicious twist from a regular avocado toast breakfast. I had agreed to share this with my friend who accompanied me to the cafe. But, as soon as it came, I knew sharing was a mistake.

With affordable prices, free internet and a ten per cent discount for students, Hello My Moon is a great place to study or have a late brunch with friends. In addition to that, this Brighton cafe is a great spot for evening drinks and Mediterranean-infused nibbles to enjoy with friends.

Redroaster in Brighton is a renowned brunch spot in the Kemptown area of Brighton, or so it was until the opening of their new location at Brighton Dome. The original Kemptown café was popular for serving coffee, breakfast and brunch options and transformed into Lucky Khao in the evenings, serving up Authentic Northern Thai cuisines.

Redroaster at the Brighton Dome stays true to what to café started off as but offers additional lunch and dinner options and is a popular destination pre and post Theatre Royale or Brighton Dome visits.

Serving up high-quality dishes, it comes as no surprise that there is a waiting list when trying to book tables on the weekend. Redroaster at Brighton Dome is open Monday through Saturday from 9 am-11 pm and on Sundays from 9 am- 8:30 pm. Table booking is available at this unmissable New Road establishment for either indoor service or their heated outdoor terrace which is perfect for people watching.

Menus on offer include a breakfast, lunch & dinner menu, a bottomless brunch menu, and a festive menu and on weekends they have a special weekend brunch menu which includes all-day brunch alongside pasta and large plate options. The bottomless meal options available make it the perfect spot to get you ready for your night out at the theatre.

When you hear the name Redroaster and see the exterior and interior of the establishment, you know you’re about to indulge in a high-quality meal. During the weekend Redroaster serves up the likes of their ‘Full Roaster’ a unique take on a full English including two organic local eggs, Sussex bacon, herb roasted mushroom, potato rosti, sauteed greens, and melted tomatoes on buttered ‘flour pot’ toast. Their cheesy parmesan hash browns are also a must! If you’re craving these during the week, breakfast is served daily until 11:45 am and features the dishes above among many others including ‘breakfast royales’.

From their pasta selection, you can expect truffle mushroom linguine or perhaps you’d like some linguine made from fresh white & brown crab, chilli, white wine and lemon, or a wild garlic rigatoni? The choice is yours! When it comes to large plates on their weekend menu Redroaster dishes up some classics including parmesan chicken schnitzel, organic cheeseburger and fresh fish and chips. If you’re looking for something like rare-breed sussex Sirloin or slow-roasted lamb shoulder, you need to visit them at any point from Monday to Friday.

Their festive menu is on offer for £29 for 2 courses or £36 for 3 courses with bubbles available for £7 per person. Wondering what to expect? The restaurant has five options for starters, mains and desserts to choose from with plant-based and vegan options available. To get your appetite going think smoked salmon, caramelised sprouts, kimchi and portabello mushroom pie, roast turkey ballotine and of course, how could we forget dessert especially when the options include traditional Christmas pudding and Bramley apple & berry crumble.

Last but definitely not least we’ve got to talk about the bottomless brunch which includes a choice of dishes from the menu and unlimited mimosas and spritz of you’re choice all for £35.95 per person with the option to upgrade to prosecco or rose for £5 per person. If you’ve got a sweet tooth don’t forget to ask for pudding (for an extra £5). The brunch runs for 90 minutes and meals on offer include plant-based, egg or meat options.

Puzzle Bored is an all-new, innovative concept, a multi-level coffee house, puzzle and retail space in Brighton. The perfect blend of freshly brewed coffees, herbal teas, jigsaw puzzles and local artistry is open to the public from Friday 1st September 2023.

The founders, Denise and Mark, are thrilled to showcase their own line of jigsaw puzzles created by talented local urban artists. The space isn’t just about puzzles though; the second floor will showcase regular exhibitions from the artists who have partnered with Puzzle Bored.

They will also be hosting regular engaging community puzzle evenings and events. The puzzle evenings will be an opportunity to connect with fellow puzzle enthusiasts and make new friends who share your passion. The dates of these events are to follow and will be published on Instagram, on their website and in the coffee shop.

The dedicated Puzzle Peace Café on the first floor is designed to provide a haven for those seeking reduced sensory input and it is a place where they will actively discourage the use of tech. Unwind in a soothing environment where you can sip your coffee, dive into a small puzzle, colour, complete some origami or simply enjoy the low-level chilled music. They have purposefully avoided noisy coffee machines throughout the coffee shop to reduce the noise.

Welcome to Redroaster, the legendary café that’s become the talk of the town since the year 2000. This community-focused gem, hailed by The New York Times who referred to it as a ‘go-to destination’ in their book, ’36 Hours: 125 Weekends in Europe’, first blessed the streets of Brighton when they transformed an old post office into the vibrant restaurant it is today. Starting at their St James’s Street location, they expanded to include Lucky Beach and Redroaster at Brighton Dome.

The original Redroaster, launched by the Michelin Star maestro Matt Gillan, is an Instagram lover’s paradise! Designed by the renowned Melbourne-based interior design studio, The Stella Collective, this café boasts a mesmerizing blend of minimalistic elegance, featuring marble surfaces, geometric décor, and golden metal accents. With lush tropical plantings forming a canopy overhead, it’s like stepping into a summer oasis with a subtle touch of jungle vibes. As night falls, the café transforms into Lucky Khao, a Northern Thai Barbeque restaurant worth checking out.

Prepare for Redroaster’s delectable menu, where classic British brunch items receive the Michelin star treatment. With an open kitchen using only the finest ingredients, their food is a true delight. While the portions are on the smaller side compared to other popular brunch spots, the quality and flavours are worth every penny. They also have the option to upgrade your brunch to their 90-minute bottomless extravaganza, offering endless cocktails and other drink options.

They were one of the UK’s first specialist coffee shops, continuing to roast their beans in Brighton as an acclaimed organic-certified roastery. But that’s not all—they’re also rated among the top 20 sustainable businesses in the country, ethically sourcing their supplies. This company truly cares about sustainability and the community, even running a profit-sharing scheme that supports social projects in Rwanda and the UK.

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, Redroaster has recently opened a new location at the refurbished Brighton Dome. This vibrant venue, off New Road and adjacent to the Pavilion Gardens, seats over 100 people and is the ultimate spot for alfresco dining. Open from 9 am until 11 pm daily (or 8:30 pm on Sundays), it’s perfectly situated for you to enjoy some food before or after attending a captivating exhibition hosted at the newly refurbished area of the Brighton Dome – currently running the Van Gogh Alive exhibition until September 2023.

The vibrant city of Brighton hides a delightful secret that has captured the hearts of locals and tourists alike – ARTBOX Cafe! Step into Europe’s first fully themed café and boutique located just a stone’s throw away from the shore, in the lively south lanes.

ARTBOX Cafe in Brighton, established in 2019, continuously reinvents itself, with its theme changing every few months. Each visit brings a unique and exciting experience, as the café’s interior, menu, and boutique offerings transform to reflect the chosen theme.

Currently, the café’s theme is Hello Kitty and Friends. Previous themes have included Gudetama’s Lazy Lounge, Line Friends and BT21 Tasty Universe, and Pusheen’s Snack Parlour and people wait in anticipation for what’s to come. Each theme leads to a change in the café’s aesthetics as well as its menu and boutique offerings.

The café is a three-story haven for anyone in search of a dopamine boost. The ground floor welcomes walk-ins, offering delectable handmade, customizable ice creams (made on-site with sauces and add-on toppings available, including special custom character printed wafers). Take-out ice cream starts at £2.90. You can also get hot drinks, mocktails, bubble iced tea and milkshakes from their takeaway menu. Additionally, you can explore the shop on this floor, which offers unique items related to the current theme.

If you’re lucky enough to secure a booking, you’ll make your way to the second floor, where an extraordinary dining experience awaits. As you enter, you’ll find yourself surrounded by an Instagram-worthy interior adorned with Hello Kitty decorations, and a statue of Hello Kitty herself.

In search of someplace new to eat, we came across an image of beautifully decorated blue pancakes and knew we had to try them. If you’re looking for a place which embodies the vibrant vibes of Brighton, Munchies Craft Cafe is the place for you.

They describe themselves as a “late-night coffee & cocktail house”. The hidden gem opens from 10 am until different times in the evening depending on the day. Situated in the heart of the south lanes, the café hosts an interesting interior with captivating neon signs, a colourful LGBTQ+ flag hung from the ceiling, and eye-catching wall art that celebrates individuality.

Seating is limited but there is a choice of indoor or outdoor seating with a sofa option, giving off real Central Perk from Friends vibes. The location of this café is great and no matter where you choose to sit, you will be treated to a view of bustling Market Street with people walking past constantly, creating a relaxed and homely atmosphere.

Although some wouldn’t expect this place to serve food, they offer breakfast, lunch, or Turkish tapas options with sweet and savoury meals. The names of their dishes are as unique and whimsical as the café itself. I wasn’t sure of what to get, on one hand, I want my classic Avocado on toast but on the other fancy something plant-based and filling (those were the names of two meal options at the café). They cater to vegans and vegetarians and the options are great and worth trying.

Their breakfast offer includes savoury meals like a Turkish shakshuka-type dish or avocado on toast. There is also a selection of sandwiches and wraps as well as pancake options with sweet versions available. This place takes the art of Instagram-worthy meals to a whole new level with its colourful pancakes.

On the topic of sweets for around £10-11, you get yourself Belgian waffles with flavour options like triple chocolate, strawberry king, pistachio delish, strawberry yumm, caramel & coconut or you can create your own with two types of chocolate, fruit, and toppings. The other food options available include a range of Turkish tapas like baba ghanoush and kofte. They also have a cheese platter or nachos to share. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous, we we’re full for the rest of the day.

For drinks, they have both hot and cold drinks available as well as dessert cocktails. If you’re lucky enough to get the chance to visit between 2 pm and 7 pm from Monday to Friday, you’re in for a treat! They offer a 2-for-1 deal on their house cocktail. Looking to take your taste buds on a journey? Pair a tapas dish with a perfectly crafted cocktail for just £15.95. Or perhaps two tapas and a glass of wine for £18.95 may be what you need.

The service was very friendly, and the food is served quickly. A big plus in my opinion is Alex, the mascot of the café, a dog who always sits around on the sofa or wanders around to get some attention.
