The Prince Albert

The Prince Albert is a bright and lively pub located near the Brighton Train Station and city
centre. With outdoor and indoor seating, a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to choose from, and many opportunities to see live music, it is a unique spot for casual drinks with friends in Brighton, and a place many people enjoy their nights out in. This pub is rich in history and culture, especially within the music scene in Brighton, making it the iconic landmark it is today.

The venue has a lengthy history in this city, being built in 1848 originally as a town house, which
then was renovated into a pub in 1860. The building itself is iconic, with the mural painted on the
side having Banksy artwork, “Kissing Coppers”, as well as many late musicians like Amy
Winehouse, Elvis Presley, and Jimi Hendrix painted onto it. The mural was repainted in 2017 and
has since been updated more regularly after that. The mural cements the pubs role in the music
scene and its important role in the music culture in Brighton and why tourists are eager to visit
one of the cities most iconic places.

The pub updates their gig list consistently, with many independent artists that are new to the
scene included and booked to perform. There are usually gigs every day, and you are able to
check their website online for updates and listings of who is playing on each certain day. They
have a selection of indie, rock, and punk music, as well as various other genres. Inside the pub is
just as welcoming and energetic as the exterior. With vibrant colours and eclectic décor, those
who enter can grasp the feeling of being at the centre of Brighton culture and tradition.

Overall, The Prince Albert offers an enjoyable experience to those in the music or art scene, as
well as tourists looking for something that has history and culture embedded into it.
