Are Dogs Allowed on Brighton Beach?

Whatever the weather, we all love a good old stroll along the seafront. But you may find yourself wondering if dogs are allowed on Brighton Beach. Read on to find out when, where and how you can bring your dog or dogs onto the beaches of Brighton.

All beaches in Brighton and Hove are open to dogs and their humans from the 1st October to the 30th April. This means for most of the autumn, winter and early spring months, you and your canine companion can enjoy as much beach time as you like, on whatever beaches you like. Just remember to keep your dog under close supervision, and (it goes without saying) clear up your pooch’s little… presents… straight away.

Outside of these times, from the 1st May to the 30th September, dogs are only allowed on certain beaches in Brighton and Hove, which are designated dog-friendly beaches. So, on which beaches in Brighton, Hove and beyond can you bring your dog in peak beach times? Read on to find out.

To the west, beach huts 457 east onwards to beach hut 376 are dog-friendly zones.

Brighton Pier

Tempting as it is to take your pooch for a promenade along the iconic Brighton pier, only guide dogs are permitted to tread the boards. This goes for both high and low season, so make sure to leave your furry friend at home if you want to explore the pier.

To sum up…

Any and all of Brighton’s beaches are dog friendly most of the year, in low season between the 1st October and 30th April. In high season, from the 1st May to the 31st September, you’ll need to stick to the dog-friendly beaches listed above. And unless your canine compadre is a guide dog, they will need to stay off the pier all year round.
