Dreamy Place, formerly known as Brighton Digital Festival (BDF), has evolved and this week unveiled its exciting new seven-day program of events in Brighton & Hove and Crawley. It takes place in Brighton & Hove from the 19th to the 22nd of October and includes workshops, conferences, exhibitions, outdoor film screenings, and immersive audio, visual, and VR experiences.
Produced by Arts Agency Video Club, the festival merges world-renowned artists and installations with local creative talent and offers a range of interactive experiences. They aim to engage people of all ages and backgrounds with the potential of creative technology and explore how to enable greater inclusion and enhance mental and physical well-being.
Jamie Wyld, director of the festival and video club who produced the festival, said: “Dreamy Place is an ever-evolving celebration of technology’s multifaceted role, offering career opportunities, fostering inclusivity, and supporting health and wellbeing. We want the festival to inspire the idea that creativity and new technologies can support anyone to initiate and establish their dreams.”
Lighthouse, the previous producers of BDF, have curated a dynamic launch program that reconnects with past BDF creators and welcomes new artists. Their 13-hour launch event features a pioneering series of talks, interviews, film screenings, dance, and performance on 19 October. Alli Beddoes, CEO at Lighthouse, added, “We see Dreamy Place as a festival not just about technology; it’s about fostering genuine human connection in the digital age.”
The program has been made possible thanks to funders, sponsors, and supporters including Arts Council England, Brandwatch, British Council, CCiXR University of Portsmouth, Chalk Hill Trust, Crawley Borough Council, Creative Crawley, Govia Thameslink, HTC, Jubilee Square / Brighton Fringe, Plus Accounting, and Visual Elements.
