Hidden within the North Laine’s of Brighton is a family-run and cosy cafe, Grind and Slice, serving freshly baked pizza slices and sandwiches made with homemade dough and bread as well as locally roasted coffee. As soon as I heard that a cafe in Brighton was offering pizza slices and coffee under the same roof, I instantly had to pay Grind and Slice a visit!
The interior at Grind and Slice
As I walked into the intimate cafe, accompanied by my best friend, we were met with a relaxed vibe and a friendly welcome from one of the cafe owners, Mahdi Mohammadi. The walls were decorated with an array of unique art pieces, showing Grind and Slice’s dedication to supporting local artists in Brighton.
We started our lunch date with a pistachio hot chocolate (one of the drink specials) and a maple latte. I had the hot chocolate, which was rich and creamy; the subtle flavours of pistachio lingered after each sip. Let’s just say that this drink didn’t last long at all!
The menu offered a variety of pizza slice sizes and toppings, as well as bagels, toasties, focaccia, and vegetarian and vegan options! Fortunately, we were lucky enough to be able to try each type of Mega Loaded Pizza slice.
Slice choices included Margarita, Chicken Mix, and Vegetarian, just to name a few. My favourite pizza slice was Pepperoni; the pizza slice was thick with an incredible amount of mozzarella cheese on it, and the honey drizzled on top was the perfect addition. Also, the pepperoni slices were full of flavour, with just the right amount of crisp.
Overall, the pizza proved to be a unique take on the classic Italian dish, and Grind and Slice was the ideal spot for a satisfying lunch. Not only do they offer a student and NHS discount, but WeLoveBrighton.com readers can receive a 15 % discount on pizza too.
So, if you fancy a slice of pizza with a hot, creamy latte on the side, be sure to head down to Grind and Slice in Brighton!
