Intuitive Painting with Prosecco At Liberation Art Gallery: Review

Liberation Art Gallery in Brighton offers lovely craft workshops in the heart of Brighton and Hove. ‘Intuitive Painting with Prosecco’ was just what a friend of mine and I needed this cold winter evening.

what can you expect from Intuitive painting with prosecco?

The workshop was run by Alice Twamley, a local artist, who was there for us every step of the way, however, due to the nature of this workshop, the help we actually needed was limited. The evening was all about intuitive painting and going with what felt right.

Intuitive painting is perfect for anyone no matter their experience level in art. You can channel your previous painting experience as you tackle the white canvas, but even for those who have never done it before, it was a wonderful experience.

All the tools, paints and different technique instructions were provided by the lovely people running the workshop. They also encouraged us to try out techniques we had never tried before such as applying different textures using scrapers and sponges, but we were also provided with more familiar tools such as a variety of good old paintbrushes. Whatever colour you had in mind or were suddenly drawn to (intuitive, remember?), they had it all.

In addition to the actual painting experience, we were also offered a glass of Prosecco (with a top-up!) and some sweet treats to get our creativity going.

Intuitive Painting with Prosecco, led by local artist Alice, is the perfect thing to do with a friend or your partner. This really connects you to the other person, providing laughs and eureka moments!

The atmosphere in the room was wonderful, allowing my friend and I to chat with the other participants with no barriers or awkwardness, and completing an icebreaker drawing challenge at the start also helped everyone feel more comfortable.

Roosa Herranen

From the moment she arrived in Brighton, Roosa knew this was the place to be. Her love of arts and culture, seaside living and inclusivity meant the city felt like home. When she’s not walking around town and admiring the sights, and the waves and the quirky little shops, she’s writing and creating. Originally being from Finland, there are things about Brighton & Hove that still surprise her - in the best possible way of course! After ten years in England and five of those in Brighton, she couldn’t imagine living anywhere else than here.
