A Guide to Brighton Nightlife — Top 5 Hidden Gems

Brighton is well-known for its fun, party atmosphere, thrilling LGBTQ+ scene and a truly great night out for a drink. In fact, whether you just want a drink or two or are heading for a night on the town in Brighton, there are a ton of top, popular bars to enjoy. But why not go for something a little different?

That’s why we’re going to uncover some of the hidden secrets Brighton nightlife has to offer.

The Bootlegger

If you’re heading for the seafront, you could head out to one of the exciting marina casinos rather than staying at home to play at UK sites online, or at something different like the top 10 German casino sites. But if it’s something unusual you’re after, then The Bootlegger is one place to go.

Looking at the front of this secretive haunt, you’d never know just how much fun it is on the inside. The entrance is nondescript and unassuming. But, step through the doors, and you’ll discover a speakeasy-style bar complete with jazz, blues and rock ‘n’ roll vibes and music. It’s pretty centrally placed too, given how often it’s overlooked. Located right on the seafront, it’s the perfect place to party all night, enjoying the DJ while sampling quality cocktails.

Alcotraz: Cell Block One-Three

For a really immersive experience, why not head to one of the most secretive cocktail bars in the city. Hidden below street level is this prison-themed bar. To get in, all you have to do is sneak your way passed the eagle-eyed warden, and you’re ready for some fun. You will need to get tickets to get in though, so bear that in mind.

The Nightingale Room

This bar is almost hidden in plain sight. For many who know Brighton, the Grand Central is a landmark for those on a night out. But while the main pub is hugely popular, it does have a hidden secret. For those in the know, there is actually a small hidden bar just above the pub. Not only that, but it harks back to more illicit times, creating the atmosphere of a speakeasy. It’s the best place to get a good gin while also enjoying some slinky cabaret at the same time.

The Wick

Similar to other speakeasies in the city, the initial look of this drinking hole is not an impressive one. And that’s exactly how it should be. Really, at first glance, The Wick looks rather like a standard pub. But, if you make your way upstairs, it all changes. Here you will find a proper 20s-themed drinking spot. It absolutely takes things to the next level with Prohibition-style decor, drinking booths for an intimate night out, low lighting and more. Of course, there are some excellent drinks found here too making it one of the top spots for a romantic evening.

Twisted Lemon

If you’re up for a bit of a challenge, then the Twisted Lemon might just be the place for you. It’s actually quite hard to find this bar, but well worth it when you do. Found in The Lanes, the bar is situated between two buildings that make it easy to overlook. If you do manage to get in through the door, a ton of delights are waiting for you. It’s a sweet cocktail heaven with caipirinhas and banoffee pie martinis to die for.

No matter whether you’re in town for just a night or two, or you want a more unusual date night, these bars are some of the best places you can find. Head out on the town and search for these secretive bars to really spice up your night out in Brighton.
