Best of Brighton: discover Brighton’s nightlife

Brighton is one of the most popular coastal cities in the United Kingdom for a number of reasons. Its roughly 25,000 people are amongst England’s most cheerful and polite, and its bustling LGBT community creates a safe haven for gay and transgender visitors, with a plethora of clubs and bars which make for a memorable night out.

The south coast venue is convenient to get to, with direct train links from London’s St Pancras Station, and is accessible from the capital city in just over an hour, making it a popular tourist destination as well as an ideal spot for stag dos as well as Pride festivals. It’s a city that The Independent has been raving about for almost 25 years and has earned its place as one of the best to visit when in England.

Interested in taking a trip to Brighton? Aside from the beaches and pier there is plenty to do when it comes to organising a night out. Read on, as we take a look at some of the best destinations and places to visit in order to make the most of your trip to Brighton.

Bar crawls

Brighton has been made famous for its conveniently located nightlife and the sheer number of pubs accessible from the train station, which is essentially a mile-long line of pubs and places to grab food to get your night started. As soon as you reach the front of the beach you are greeted by a number of places to go – everything from the traditional chain places like the Walkabout Bar and Revolution to independent bars that serve locally distilled lagers and plenty of funky cocktails.

The bars all exhibit Brighton’s quirky charm, with different themes and colour schemes all tailored for your own group’s experiences.

The On The Rocks bar crawl runs every Friday and Saturday, gathering punters from up and down the country for those that want to leave the organising to the professionals. Four drinks and four shots in Brighton’s centre is a great way to kick start your night before heading to a club – or an early bedtime for those that prefer to start in the day!

Great restaurants

As well as its selection of places to drink, Brighton is home to some of the best restaurants in the south of England. There is plenty of choice for every type of cuisine, with Brighton Place perhaps the pick of the bunch. Here you’ll find some of the best locally sourced seafood as well as popular Italian restaurant Donatello – a favourite of the Brighton and Hove Albion Premier League football team, and in particular their manager, Roberto di Zerbi.

A trip to the casino

Those who like the risk and reward of a night out can visit one of the casinos in Brighton for the bright lights and entertainment that come with a trip to a land-based venue. Some places offer welcome drinks and sign up bonuses for those who want to try their luck at table games like casino and blackjack, or even experience some of the slot machines in person, something that feels so different to even the most popular online casino sites when playing alongside your friends.

Brighton has three different casinos in its city centre to choose from, meaning there is always the chance to play for the biggest prizes wherever it is you choose to stay. These are also close to the nightclubs so provide a great stop-off for some action in between bars and clubs.

Brighton Palace Pier

A great night out doesn’t always have to end with your group drinking themselves into the ground. The best part of Brighton has to be its pier, which overlooks the sea and has been open for over 125 years. These days you’ll find it has an arcade and even a theme park that perilously perches riders over the sea with rollercoasters, carousels, and the horror hotel.

Time to hit the club

The moment most of you have been waiting for – the time of the night to get your dancing shoes on and hit the clubs! Brighton has a range of clubs for every age group, so if you want to avoid the younger crowds and student nights then head for Coalition or Popworld – filled with plenty of cheesy classics from the 90s and 2000s. There is also Club Revenge, Brighton’s biggest and best LGBT entertainment venue filled with three floors of different music perfect for the community. Everything is walkable from the city centre and there are lots of late food options available for the trip home.

Away from the hustle and bustle of a night in London, Brighton provides a more serene, picturesque and relaxed option for a trip away. Accessible from every part of the country due to its solid transport links, there is a reason it is one of the most popular destinations for a night out, and should certainly be considered for your next time away.
