Exploring Brighton’s Entertainment Sector: What’s New in 2025?

Besides hosting some of the most spectacular sites in the world, Brighton has always been a city that thrives on creativity, culture and entertainment. In fact, just recently, Time Out ranked it 34th among the world’s best cities. Regardless of your preferences – the buzzing nightlife, engaging art scenes or the eclectic mix of events – you will always find something for your tastes.

While we understand the appeal of chilling at home and ordering a takeaway, watching a movie or even checking out Casingdom’s expert-rated casino promotions, there is so much to explore in Brighton this year, and it would be a massive shame if you were to miss out!

2025 Events Lineup

Towards the end of last year (2024), Brighton and Hove City Council’s cabinet confirmed their support for a programme of events that would see major national events and festivals happen across various destinations within the city. To be more specific, the programme involved three key national profile events, ten major festivals and over 150 widespread community events.

For music enthusiasts, the Great Escape Festival is definitely something to watch out for. This festival will take place for four days and bring together about 450 bands across 30 venues in the city. And if you want to discover some new favourite artists before they rock the global scene, this can be a good opportunity to take advantage of.

Another captivating festival to watch out for is the Brighton Festival, which has been running since 1967. It often incorporates several activities, including theatre, dance, art, film and so much more.

Surprisingly, you’ll find tickets to some of its events for as low as 10 pounds on its website. Just recently, it joined the Big Give initiative to raise funds, which would enable thousands of people to attend and enjoy high-quality, captivating performances freely.

This came just after Anoushka Shankar, the festival’s guest director, confirmed that Pakistani-American singer Arooj Aftab and Nadine Shah would participate in this year’s (2025) event. Of course, you also don’t want to miss Anoushka performing her new album, Chapter III: We Return to Light.

According to the council’s spokesman, these events really play a crucial part in the region’s vibrancy and economic vitality. By attracting tourists, they help boost the local economy by generating employment, encouraging community spirit, etc.

There is More to Consume

If you’re a sports fan, especially rugby, you probably remember 2015 when Brighton and Hove Stadium hosted one of the toughest rugby matches between Japan and South Africa. Ten years later, rugby returns to the region with the girls for the Women’s Rugby World Cup championship.

Of course, this is not the first time the region is hosting competitions of international repute. For instance, it previously hosted three of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 matches and the tight quarter-final between the Lionesses and Spain.

This year, Brighton will play host to some matches of the Women’s Rugby World Cup at the Amex Stadium. This is a huge milestone, not just for sports lovers but for the city as a whole. Hosting an event of this scale brings with it a boost to local businesses, tourism and community engagement.

This may also imply more pop-up events, fan zones and initiatives to encourage more women to take up rugby and other sports, so stay on the watch out. In another exciting addition to the city’s event lineup, Stanmer Park is set to host a brand-new hot air balloon festival on June 7-8. This family-friendly event will feature county fair-style entertainment and culminate in a mass balloon flight.

Preserving its Rich Heritage

For about 12 years, you couldn’t access the Madeira Terrace because it was closed, as it was deemed unsafe for visitors. However, just last year, this seaside town revealed plans to renovate the site after Historic England confirmed a £750,000 grant to facilitate such projects.

As part of the first phase of the project, 28 of the 151 ornate arches and bays were to be restored. A new fully accessible lift was also to be installed just a few weeks after the announcement. Originally built in the late 19th century, this structure is one of the world’s longest cast-iron structures and is integral to Eastern Seafront’s social history.

In East Sussex, England, you’ll encounter Brighton i360, a 162m moving observation tower that has defined the city’s skyline for nearly a decade. Shockingly, it features amongst the most visited paid-for attractions in the region, welcoming over 1.8 million visitors between 2016 and 2023.

While it seemed to have been doing well, it was forced to close last year due to financial challenges, leaving behind a £51million debt. But all hope was not gone.

Nightcap, owned by Former Dragon’s Den star Sarah Willingham, came to its rescue after acquiring it with renovation plans. So, during your next visit to Brighton, you may want to pass by this location.

Our Final Word

In a region like Brighton, where the administration seeks to give both locals and visitors engaging entertainment experiences, you expect new things to come up often. That’s why Brighton is committed to preserving its rich heritage through renovations, amongst other things.

Plus, there are numerous festivals like Great Escape and events such as the Women’s Rugby World Cup to watch out for.
