I recently attended my first class at Luna Wave Yoga. Eager for a challenge, I booked the Vinyasa Flow class. This class included flowing and fluid movements and required some previous yoga experience. Fortunately, the website shows the level of difficulty of each class, and this is easily represented through emojis.

Upon entrance, there was a stunning view of the Brighton seafront, and with the sun shining, the studio was beautifully lit with natural lighting. The minimalist and warm interior created an ideal setting for the yoga class. Also, there was complimentary tea and water available, which was a great perk.

I chose a mat in the back row, as I was feeling a bit nervous. However, after being greeted by the instructor, Michelle Varchione and seeing the beautiful view of the sea, soon my nerves slowly disappeared.

We started by acknowledging our breath and then got into various yoga poses which were grouped together. These movements transitioned into one another in a flowing dynamic, and we would repeat these movements multiple times through. During these movements, a soothing and comforting soundtrack played in the background.

The class forced you to become present and aware of your breath. It made me feel so relaxed in the moment, allowing me to let go of my thoughts. It felt like I had been in the class for a much longer duration. Throughout the entire class, the instructor, Varchione was very supportive and kept the positive energy high.

There was no judgment if you made a mistake or couldn’t quite hold a position for long enough.  Even though my abs were sore, and the class was very challenging, I felt so peaceful afterwards. It was a great experience that I definitely want to repeat.
