Mowgli, Brighton

Situated in the bustling Duke’s Lane area of Brighton is the Indian street food venue, Mowgli. Its gorgeous biophilic interior features twinkling trees and swing-style seating, which create a fun and unique dining experience. All the elements of this restaurant are curated with Indian home-style food culture in mind.

The owner drew inspiration from her heritage to bring Mowgli to the market and opened her first restaurant in Liverpool back in 2014. Brighton was only introduced to its very own venue in early 2023 but has quickly become a well-loved choice for diners in the city.

The curved structure of the restaurant offers diners a panoramic view of the famous South Lanes outside and glitters with warm clusters of fairy lights from within. They pride themselves upon “fresh, bright, intense flavour” and prepare simple menu dishes on site every morning.

The restaurant offers a range of menus alongside its main menu to meet different dietary needs, with a vegan and gluten-friendly menu to order from. If you’re feeling particularly hungry, there is a special feasting menu for £35 per person, including a variety of street chats and curries in traditional two-tier tiffin boxes. There is an element of mystery to this course as it is a roulette of what you will receive and is chosen by the chef just like in India.

Vegan and gluten-friendly choices are on offer for all 3 courses, with an option for meat lovers too. A glass of bubbles is included as part of this deal, which can be swapped for coke or diet coke as a non-alcoholic alternative.

If you’re dining with little ones, an extensive kids menu is available with a choice of “Fancy Fizztails” to drink and mains starting from £3.95. Mowgli spoils its diners with choices of drinks, including some South Asian-inspired cocktails, still and sparkling wines, and of course an Indian classic, the Mango Lassi.

Mowgli is open every day of the week, making it suitable for meetings and get-togethers and in a casual but elegant setting. Additionally, this venue is wheelchair accessible and dog-friendly.
