The Hope And Ruin
This is arguably a brilliant spot in Brighton to spend the entirety of your New Year’s Eve celebrations. The Hope And Ruin is one of the hippest and trendiest venues in the city and constantly puts on a banger of a night every December 31st. The Hope (as it’s commonly referred to) is ostensibly a grassroots music venue, so prides itself on showcasing up-and-coming musical talent. However, it is also a fantastic pub with eccentric decor and a lively atmosphere.
The Hope is conveniently located on Queen’s Road in Brighton and is perfectly situated within a short walk from the North Laine, town centre, and seafront, so even if you decide not to stay put, and have plans elsewhere, the bar is a great place for pre-drinks to start your New Year’s Eve night off with a bang.

Twisted Lemon
What better way to get your New Year’s Eve night off to a bang than with some cocktails in one of Brighton’s hidden gem bars? When we say “hidden” we mean it when talking about Twisted Lemon. This small delight of a cocktail bar is tucked away at the end of a back alley just a stone’s throw from the city centre.
The bar has become a word-of-mouth sensation and has recently expanded with new bars in the city due to its success. Due to its size, it can reach capacity quickly on busy nights, and there’s no busier night than New Year’s Eve, so this makes it the perfect place to get down early and enjoy some pre-drinks.

The Mash Tun
Situated on a teeming thoroughfare just a stone’s throw from Brighton Pavilion, The Mash Tun has been a popular haunt for revellers in Brighton on New Year’s Eve. The bar has a lively and sociable atmosphere where dancing on tables is often the only way to free up a bit of floor space amongst the crowds of drinkers on busy nights (*dancing on tables is not promoted or advised by The Mash Tun).
Just a short walk from the various nightclubs on the seafront and a host of bars in central Brighton, The Mash Tun should be on every reveller’s list of spots to start their celebrations this New Year’s Eve.

Good Companions
Pubs and bars can get incredibly busy on New Year’s Eve with revellers descending on Brighton in their droves. So, for those looking for a guaranteed table to start their New Year’s Eve celebrations off in style, look no further than Good Companions in Seven Dials.
This is not to suggest that Good Companions isn’t a popular bar. Far from it. Good Companions consistently hosts scores of friendly faces every night of the week. It also boasts a charming and sprawling drinking garden with sheltered and heated tables in case the weather takes a turn for the worst. The pub is a bit out of the way, but thankfully there are taxis in Brighton for those who don’t fancy a walk to the next bar on the list.

The Foundry
This list endeavours to promote a range of great pubs and bars to start your New Year’s Eve celebrations without favouritism or prejudice, but with that being said, this writer’s personal favourite has to be The Foundry. Situated on Foundry Street in North Laine, The Foundry is a favourite among locals in the area.
The pub is such a diminutive gem that there’s a temptation to gatekeep such a brilliant drinking institution, but that’s not what this website is about. We urge you to drop into The Foundry and drink a pint as part of your New Year’s Eve pre-drink celebrations. We promise you won’t regret it!
