Ways to Utilise Your Loft Space

Do you have a loft space that you don’t know how to utilise?

Tucked away at the top of the house, lofts offer both privacy and masses of potential, but with so many options for how to use the space, it can be difficult to know what to go for. The following article will cover a few of the options that you should consider.

Make sure to think about what is going to work best for you and what you need from your home.

Kids’ playroom

Are you becoming fed up with kids’ toys taking over your entire home?

Having a designated area for your kids to both play and store their toys is a fantastic way to regain back valuable space in your home.

With the playroom being at the top of the house, you can really be adventurous and get creative with how you design the space. From fun pops of colour to creative storage solutions, there are so many ways you can make it an enjoyable space for your kids to play in.

If you’re looking for a summer project to keep the kids busy, you could even involve them in the design and decorating process.

Lounge area

While you may have a traditional front room on the ground floor of your home, there is nothing to stop you from creating an additional lounge area in the loft.

Lofts make the perfect cosy spaces and can be completely customised to how you like to relax. If you’re a massive movie fan, why not include a projector for at-home cinema evenings? If game nights are more of your thing, include a games table for endless fun!

It can also be handy to include fitted furniture in this space to make sure there is room to store everything you need to enjoy a chilled evening in.

Home office

Working from home is now the norm for many of us, and if this is the case for you then a home office could be the perfect way to use your loft.

Having a dedicated space for working is ideal if you frequently work from home and are looking to maximise your focus. Allocating this space to your loft is also useful for creating better balance and separation while working from home, as you can close the door on your office at the end of each day.

Second bathroom

Are you constantly fighting for space in the bathroom each morning? Or is there a three-person queue for the shower every evening? If this is the case, using your loft for a second bathroom could be just the ticket.

If you can’t solely use the room as an additional bathroom, it could be worth looking into the possibility of including an ensuite.

Not only will this be useful for day-to-day use, but it also comes in handy if you ever have guests to stay.
