Seed Talks is an independent events company who are dedicated to organising interesting and knowledgeable talks and lectures in Science, Psychedelics, Wellness, Philosophy, Psychology and Neuroscience.
Their roster of trusted professional speakers are highly qualified lecturers and carefully selected by the Seed Talks team who have over five years of experience in public education.
On February 14th, my partner and I attended an introductory lecture by Max Noak on Carl Gustav Jung, the founder of analytical psychology. Jung’s theory which emphasises the importance of early life experiences in shaping personality development diverges from Freud’s outlook by exploring the collective unconscious through mythological symbolism something I was keen to learn more about.
Exploring the Depths of Carl Jung’s Theories with Max Noak
When we arrived at the Sussex Beacon, we were surprised to see a long line of eager attendees waiting to enter the venue and listen to a lecture on analytical psychology (on Valentine’s Day no less!) – an observation that speaker Max Noak also shared!
The sold-out event had a buzzing atmosphere, and it was nice to see so many people turn out for a more pacific type of event. Max Noak was engaging, enlightening, and amusing as he gave his lecture and lifted the veil on the professional and personal life of Carl Jung – a man who has become somewhat enigmatised within the zeitgeist.
Although there were some expected noises which could have caused distraction and interrupted a lesser speaker’s (like me) flow, Max unwaveringly continued and delivered an excellent talk followed by an engaging Q&A which opened the discussion to the audience.
Once the 2-hour event had finished and people were filtering out, I noticed couples and friend groups continuing the discussions amongst themselves and it seemed that Max’s lecture was a catalyst for some thought-provoking conversation which would last for some time.
All-in-all, I had a great time attending this talk and will be looking to go to more in the future. The price-point of the tickets is very reasonable, and Seed Talks puts on a wide variety of topics for curious minds to delve into.
I’d recommend checking out a Seed Talks event at some point for a taste of something different, especially for neurodivergent people looking for a night out that doesn’t include inevitable overstimulation!
