Sofar Sounds Events In Brighton

Sofar Sounds is all about using ordinary spaces in Brighton and beyond, such as rooftops or art galleries, and turning them into intimate venues for live music performances of up-and-coming musical artists, crafting an immersive atmosphere that forges connections between guests and artists.

Each Sofar event is deliberately small, showcasing three diverse acts with no headliner. Presently, Sofar Sounds Brighton runs around four shows monthly across Brighton and Hove, hosted at over 20 locations around town.

What is Sofar Sounds in Brighton all about?

At Sofar, we like to ask: Have you ever felt disappointed after a concert? Perhaps the crowd was too loud, or maybe the beer was warm. Or maybe the sound system wasn’t doing the artist justice. Or someone was in your line of view, snapping selfies all night. Regardless of the experience, it just wasn’t what you hoped or expected. The magic of a live event experience has been lost. Sofar Sounds was founded to bring back that magic.

In 2009, Rafe Offer invited a few friends over to an unassuming London flat for a low-key, intimate show. Eight people gathered in the living room, shared drinks, and sat on the floor, engaging with the live music. Fast forward to today; Sofar Sounds is a global community for artists and audiences. Everyone comes together, creating a space where music matters.

Want to attend a Sofar show? Here are three simple steps:

1. Find a show near you

Pick a concert in Brighton or while you travel. You’ll choose your venue based on the area of a city, but the exact venue and artists will be unknown.

2. Feel the anticipation

The suspense is almost over. Around 36 hours before the show, you’ll receive an email disclosing the address of the show and other key details. You’ll only find out who the artists performing are when you arrive at the venue; there will be a board that tells you the lineup, and at some shows, you’ll also be able to buy merch from musicians.

3. Share the love

Keep an eye out for an email from us after the performances with information about the artists you saw perform live on the night. When you find an artist you love, be sure to follow them on social media so you can get regular updates on what they’re working for, and when you can see them perform again, for all you know, they could just be the next big celebrity! And of course, if you’re looking for something to do in Brighton, make sure to join them at another Sofar Sounds Show to discover more artists.
