How horse racing fans in Brighton can get involved with the nationwide action

Horse racing has taken place at a regulated level at Brighton Racecourse since 1783, which makes it one of the UK’s oldest consistently active venues.

It hosts races throughout the flat racing season between March and October and is defintely one of the most unique places to take in horse racing action across the entire country.

It is incredibly picturesque, with the track built on a hill overlooking the seafront and the city, but it doesn’t often attract the highest level horses to its events.

This is because the course’s position on elevated ground means the surface is firm and on an incline, which makes it an incredibly tough track to prepare for.

For these reasons, the top racehorse talent tend to avoid Brighton. But that does not mean that fans in the area don’t have other ways to get close to the action involving the most exciting horses across the UK.

Fans can buy shares in racehorses

One way that fans can get involved in racing action without travelling to the leading venues is to purchase racehorse shares. RaceShare, for example, offers racehorse ownership in the form of small shares that fans can obtain in return for a one-off fee.

This allows fans to directly back horses with proven quality while not needing to physically travel to attend events if they do not wish to.

For example, Scampi is available for £76 and is a five-time winner with a 103 Timeform rating.

The horse won at York and Ascot in 2023 and is a level of talent that is typically unseen at Brighton’s racecourse.

Part owning a racehorse is a great way for fans to become closely involved with horses that compete regularly for significant victories in England. There is even the possibility for owners to meet their stallions and attend their events.

The ability to part-own high-level horses is an excellent benefit of the evolving digital world, but nothing can top viewing photo finishes as a neutral spectator at the most iconic venues.

Fans can travel to prestigious festivals

Brighton has a beautiful venue of its own, but a higher level of competitive action is available at some of the country’s biggest events, which are a short drive away.

The Epsom Festival and the Royal Ascot Festival are around an hour’s drive away from Brighton, so fans do not have to travel far to see some of the greatest international talent converge for the huge events.

Derby Day at the Epsom Festival would be the greatest day to experience across the two festivals. It regularly attracts entries from horses all over the world and is widely seen as one of the biggest and most special races on the planet as a result.

The Gold Cup at Ascot would also be a great headline event to attend for fans who want to see some of the greatest talent available across the British horse racing calendar

Ultimately, Brighton Racecourse is ideal to introduce fans to the sport. However, those who develop into passionate fans will surely want to get closer to the top-level action that the nation has to offer.

Here, we’ve discussed two methods in which fans can do just that. Obtaining a racehorse share would engage fans to follow their horse’s events year-round. Attending Epsom or Ascot would provide an unforgettable experience of a single action-packed day of racing at the highest level.
