The Big Queer Valentines Rave At Patterns In Brighton: Review

I spent this Valentines Day at The Big Queer Valentines Rave in Brighton, a night full of great tunes from queer DJs. The line up was Kekeneko, Rach, B4B, Persia, Jay Mo, Audio Dune and Spinks. They all played lively and engaging music and had a great stage presence. The music fitted the event and was well received by the crowd. The high energy and uplifting spirit from the DJs was contagious and made for an upbeat atmosphere.

The rave was hosted at Patterns, situated near the Brighton seafront. The room fitted the event’s needs and intentions, and with the DJs positioned front and centre, it was hard to not be drawn into the dance floor.

There were entrancing lights during the DJ sets which were paired perfectly with the music and induced a euphoric feeling. Extra credit is needed to be given to whoever was in charge of the light as they added a lot to the experience.

There was a good-sized terrace smoking area where the transcendent ambience of the rave followed out. People were socialising and making new friends, and there were -at most- 30 people out there at a time which created an unintimidating vibe.

You can normally expect some sort of drama, or drunk fights to arise on a night out, but nothing of the sort happened during this night. Everyone was dancing with everyone, new friends were made throughout the whole night and overall it was just a great atmosphere.

It’s not unusual to make new friends at a rave but it was impossible not to this night, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. It was obvious everyone was there for a good time.

This event had attracted a certain easygoing, sociable and approachable crowd. Some couples had chosen to celebrate valentines at the event, however, the dance floor was mainly made up of celebrating singles. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the rave and it was a very fun way to spend valentines with friends.

From a very young age, she knew she wanted to live in Brighton, as her father is from Worthing meaning she had the opportunity to visit a handful of times growing up. She was immediately drawn to the welcoming, creative and non judgemental atmosphere of Brighton. Having now been here for over 2 years and still just as in love with Brighton, if not more, she is intending on staying here after my studies. So why wouldn't she want to continue to explore and find new gems, in the city she love, with WeLoveBrighton, and tell you all about them!
