If you have a sweet tooth, this café will not disappoint. From the moment you open its doors, the sweet aroma of freshly baked cakes will surely keep you coming back for more. Whether you’re looking for a quick breakfast, an afternoon brunch with friends, or an early evening meal, Reading Room offers all this and more with its daily opening times of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

The Allure of Reading Room Cafe in Brighton

The café has a beautiful vintage interior with large windows that stretch to meet the chandeliers in the ceilings, creating a magical feel as you stare out at Brighton’s coastline. The Reading Room was originally built in 1835 and designed by architect William Kendall to provide residents of Lewes Crescent a place to read in comfort.

Today, as part of the Black Rock renovation project, the building is re-opened as a modern-day café with its historic décor respecting The Reading Room’s ancient history.

If you plan to visit the cafe, no reservation is needed. All are welcome, including dogs, for when you want to grab a quick coffee during your dog walk.
