United Queendom At Brighton Spiegeltent: Review

The only rule at United Queendom: Smooch?: “Don’t be a dickhead.” Apart from that, sing, cheer and dance, as long as you don’t block anyone’s view. And sing, cheer and dance we did in this sexy,  jaw-dropping and uplifting show with a stellar, down-to-earth and talented cast.

Our night was hosted by the absolutely fabulous hostess and singer Chastity Belt, who was a poster girl for the plethora of witty and stylish costumes, wearing a red velvet number in the first half with a box of chocolates on her head of course.

The fabulous and friendly cast – Chastity, James Gill, Little Finch – an acrobatic duo who are also husbands (swoon) and Demi Noire roamed the crowd before the show officially began and began to sprinkle the joy that was spread as United Queendom continued.

Brighton Spiegeltent was packed with a delighted crowd, which added to the joyful and inclusive atmosphere of the show. There were at least two hen dos in of course and many sparkling outfits.

Highlights of the show included burlesque by the bold and beautiful Demi, whose slick and sexy routines included stripping her stockings off with her feet while upside down. Incredible.

Newcomer James Gill played up to being the eye candy and showed off his amazing strength and balance in various acrobatic feats. Another costume highlight with James was his sparkly kilt.

Little Finch were an impressive and strong duo, often found in stiletto heels or upside down in a hoop. It made my heart melt to find out they were married and their chemistry was palpable.

Queen of our hearts, Chastity Belt, was the bow that wrapped around the gift that was this show. Her hilarious one-liners; “It’s always been my dream to sing in a tent by the seaside” and powerhouse vocals brought the house down.

Highlights included You’ve Got The Love and a singalong to Spice Girls Two Become One. Hilariously, many of the audience didn’t know the lyrics, which made my friend and I feel really old.

If you want to feel uplifted, entertained and at times on the edge of your seat, United Queendom is the show for you. We felt completely smooched by the end of the night.

Furthermore, my friend and I loved the buzz of the Spiegeltent complex and enjoyed a Saturday night dance in the big tent until the early hours.
