Celebrating Valentines Day 2025 In Brighton

This Valentine’s Day, whether you’re taking yourself on a solo date, going on a first date, celebrating with your significant other(s) or spending time with friends, at WeLoveBrighton we’ve got you covered.

At the start of the year, many of us have been on a tighter budget post-Christmas, so here’s our pick of the best free or cheap things to do this Valentine’s Day (Friday, February 14) in Brighton and Hove.

Free or cheap daytime Valentine’s Day date ideas in Brighton

If you’re looking for free or cheap daytime date ideas on Valentine’s Day in Brighton, Hove and surrounding areas then here are some ideas.

Free walks and nature spots near Brighton

There are plenty of walks in Brighton and surrounding areas. The Brighton Coastal Path walk is five miles from Brighton Pier to Southwick and the Undercliff Walk runs three miles from near Asda at Brighton Marina to Saltdean. Another popular walk is Brighton to Lewes, which is seven miles. If you walk to Lewes, there is currently a Grayson Perry exhibition at The Charleston in Southover Road until March 9 and tickets are from £5.50 or £2.75 for students and under 30s (Free for under 18s).

Brighton’s nature spots include Stanmer Park, Devil’s Dyke and Ditchling Beacon, while Preston Park or Queen’s Park offer greenery to enjoy slightly closer to the city centre.

Watch the starling Murmurations

The best things in life are free and one of Brighton’s best free things from November to March is arguably watching the starling murmurations over Brighton Pier. Quite romantic too if you like. For the best chance of seeing this wonder of nature, make your way onto the pier or the beach nearby about half an hour before sunset. The sun will set at 5.16 pm on February 14 in Brighton so the best time will be 4.46 pm.

Mooch around the Lanes

One of my favourite things to do when people visit Brighton is just to have a wander around the North Laine and The Lanes. Visiting Snoopers Paradise is essential, and so much fun. Why not challenge one another to find something random – something toucan-themed for example, or the most unusual?

There are also several free art galleries, particularly in The Lanes. One of my favourites is the Liberation Art Gallery on Meeting House Lane.

Free or cheap museums in Brighton

You can visit the Booth Museum of Natural History in Dyke Road and Hove Museum of Creativity in New Church Road, Hove for free. Rampion Visitor Centre, Kings Road Arches is also free and another favourite is Brighton Toy and Model Museum in Trafalgar Street with tickets from £5.
