The Brighton CineCity Film Festival was started in 2003 by Tim Brown and Frank Gray and aims to bring together various aspects of cinematography, foster debate, and encourage the production of new work. Previous special guests who have appeared at the Brighton Film Festival included Nick Cave, Paddy Considine, Steve Coogan, John Hillcoat, and Henry Normal.
The 21st edition of the CineCity Film Festival has arrived in Brighton. Established two decades ago, CineCity has become a beacon for cinema enthusiasts, showcasing a diverse array of films, from emerging talents to established international works.
The festival spans over 10 days with more than 50 films being shown across 10 venues in Brighton and Lewes including ACCA, Duke of York’s, Dukes at Komedia, Depot, Fabrica, John Marchant Gallery, Horatios Bar, East Street Tap, Dead Wax Social, and The Lord Nelson Inn. Screenings will include previews of major films slated for release in 2024, short films from local talents, and award-winning selections from world cinema.
From world cinema and premieres to live soundtrack cinema, panel Q&As, and archive gems, the festival offers a diverse menu of cinematic experiences. Each year, awards are given to the audience’s favourite film, allowing festival-goers to actively participate in recognizing outstanding cinematic achievements. This year’s film festival runs from November 10th to 19th, with a range of movies on offer and a 36-hour film challenge to finish it off.
If you’re looking for something to do in Brighton, make sure you don’t miss out on seeing some of the amazing films being screened over the next week or so!
