Brighton Open Market: Vegan market Review

Tucked away in the heart of Brighton is the Open Market, which hosts a variety of independent traders, retail units and studio spaces. Typically, there are countless delicious foods from different cuisines to choose from as well as gifts, lifestyle and beauty products too!

However, on the first Saturday of every month, Brighton’s Open Market hosts the highly anticipated vegan market where you will find an abundance of exclusively vegan vendors.

The Vibe at the Brighton Open Market

The market was excitingly busy, with a variety of savoury and sweet vegan options to choose from. For example, there was artisan vegan cheese from an award-winning cheese shop, Sophie’s Delight, vegan doughnuts from Cat Burglar Dough Co, and authentic, vegan Portuguese cuisine from Plantuguese! The weather might not have been great, but the market was buzzing.

The food

After struggling to decide what food I should get, I finally decided on Pomodoro E Basilico and the Sticky Spoon. From Pomodoro E Basilico, which specialises in vegan, Italian Food, I bought a pesto and kimcheese roll. It was a savoury, turmeric dough rolled around some spicy kimchi, with cashew cream cheese and then finished with basil pesto on top. It was spicy, with deep flavours and had a unique texture. It wasn’t too chewy or too crumbly either; it was a nice balance of the two.

Also, I got a chocolate chip cookie from the Sticky Spoon. I have an incredibly sweet tooth, so I was very excited about this! It was delicious, soft and perfectly chewy. It was honestly not that different from a non-vegan cookie.

Overall experience at The Brighton open Market: Vegan Market

The vegan market in Brighton made for a very fun day. It was great seeing a variety of independent vegan food traders all in one place. But most importantly the food was delightful, and the market had a welcoming atmosphere.

With the warmer months arriving soon, it would be great to pick up some food from the market and enjoy it while soaking up some sun on the Brighton seafront.

In addition, it’s free to enter. So, if you’re vegan, a lover of great food or both, be sure to head down to the Open Market in Brighton, on the first Saturday of the following month! With trading beginning at 10 am till 5 pm, you’ll have the entire day to indulge in as many vegan delights as you wish.
