This year’s October is set to become one of the most supernatural. With a Friday the 13th, a Solar eclipse, and a Full Blood Moon Lunar eclipse taking place all in the lead-up to Halloween, it is difficult not to feel that this year’s Halloween celebrations in Brighton will be some of the best yet, with a multitude of events on offer.
Every year we celebrate Halloween, the first of three consecutive Christian holidays including All Saints’ Day and Souls’ Day, donning various types of outfits from the intricately planned to the more last-minute, which are all celebrated on this unholy night.
As with any celebration in this coastal city, there is no shortage of things to do to commemorate the holiday, whether that’s family-orientated artisan markets or an emo music night held especially for members of the Black Parade. But what if you want to celebrate on the exact night at the exact hour? Well despite it being in the slightly more awkward mid-week day of Tuesday, Brightonians will certainly find something to sate their appetite.
Brighton Halloween Events In 2023
Nightmare in Brighton
Possibly one of the most important events you should attend in the year, Nightmare in Brighton is one of the best nights to celebrate Halloween. A multiple-venue event that’s been sold out every year since its inaugural performance in 2012, Nightmare in Brighton takes everything you know and love about Halloween and combines it together to create a supernatural wonderland of the eeriest proportions.
Dressing up isn’t mandatory but is highly encouraged as you navigate ghoulish games afoot and dance to the sets performed by the resident DJs onsite. Tickets cost between £5 to £8, plus a booking fee, which will give you a wristband that grants you the full domain of all that is on offer on the night, though don’t leave it to the last minute, wristbands are unlikely to be available at the door due to the high demand for this event. When the doors open at 9 pm be prepared to have one of the best nights in town.
Halloween Seafront Block Party
Primarily a student event, the Halloween Seafront Block Party is one of the best student nights of the year. Taking place on the 31st, doors open at The Arch in Brighton at 11 pm and tickets are currently at £3 though discounted entry is available for anyone with the ROX wristband. With a range of music genres from Hip-Hop to Grime to Indie, organisers promise to provide a night of pure supernatural mayhem.
The event is the combined effort of three amazing venues, such as Horizon and Tide joining together and transforming to give up to 4,000 visitors a night to remember. Providing 5 hours of great tunes and spectacular performances which will include live actors, it will quickly go down as one of the best ways to celebrate Halloween – but watch out, the actors have been instructed to dial up the scare factor.
Guru Dudu’s Silent Discoween Spooktacular
Providing multiple silent disco day events in London and Brighton, you would be hard-pressed to find someone who hasn’t seen Guru Dudu making the rounds with a trail of silent disco-goers in a style akin to a neon-wearing pied piper leading a trail of singers and dancers behind him. In the spirit of Halloween though, Guru Dudu has organised a stellar event combining Halloween with song and dance for a spooktacular event.
Providing two tours on the 31st of October; Senor ‘scary’ Samba and Madame ‘chilling’ Cha Cha, these tours give visitors to “prowl the streets of Brighton while busting ghosts, mashing monsters and warping time.” Dressing up is highly recommended especially on the 31st, though bear in mind that come rain, wind and shine nothing stops the tours so be prepared to boogie in the rain. Tickets for these spooktacular tours are £20 for adults, £15 for concession and £12 for children meaning that everyone can get involved and sing their heart out. A warning though, your cheeks will hurt from smiling.
