Brighton Artisan Halloween Market

For a fun-filled afternoon featuring small businesses, artists, creators and bakers, with a Halloween twist, Brighton Artisan Halloween Market is a must-visit for all the family. 

Children who come dressed up will receive a free goodie bag, and have the chance to win an awesome prize for being best dressed. Little ones can also enjoy a free craft zone, and expert face painting from a professional face and body artist. 

The fancy dress isn’t just for kids though, with Gladrags (a local theatrical clothing charity) running a fabulous dress-up opportunity with a photo booth to record your spooky outfit. Plus, four-legged members of the family can get involved with free doggy dress up too!

Crafty activities and free seasonal giveaways (including pumpkins!) from Brighton Grub Hub are also available! Of course, there will be iconic street food, a bar and fabulous music to create the perfect Halloween atmosphere.

Halloween Afternoon Teas

Craving the sweet cinnamon hit that comes hand-in-hand with Autumn? Then a Halloween-themed Afternoon Tea may be just what you’re looking for. A huge range of Brighton’s best cafes and restaurants are offering delicious, spooky-themed treats for grown-ups and children alike. 

Voted Brighton’s best afternoon tea, for three years in a row, The Grand Brighton provides an indulgent and spooky afternoon tea between the 25th and 31st of October. Expect the best flavours of the autumnal season, including mini toffee apples, spiced pumpkin and vanilla frosted cake, a marbled chocolate orange delice, and apple and ginger scones. The beautiful setting and spectacular sea view will make this a deathly decadent experience to remember. 

For a selection of freshly prepared savouries, including finger sandwiches and mini buns, as well as spooky sweet treats like tombstone brownies, blood red-velvet croissants, and creepy-crawly carrot cakes, Oeuf Cafe in Hove is the place for you. Available on the 30th and 31st of October, Oeuf’s Halloween afternoon tea includes champagne options, and child tickets too, with prices ranging from £16 to £36. 

Another option would be the Halloween-themed afternoon tea on offer at Puzzle Bored. Head over to this fantastic newly opened puzzle cafe to try their Halloween afternoon tea for 2 alongside a puzzle. Priced at £19.99, it will be available from the 21st-22nd of October and 28th-29th of October.

Halloween Karaoke: Arcobaleno

Hosted at Arcobaleno (an LGBTQ+ Café, Gay Bar and Events space) in Kemptown, will be Dick Day’s Halloween Karaoke night!

Fancy dress is strongly encouraged, to create a Halloween Karaoke night you won’t forget. From 8 pm till late, the stage and the spotlight await you in your spookiest attire. With free entry, cracking drinks deals, a lively and inclusive atmosphere, as well as a legendary Maltese-inspired menu, Halloween Karaoke at Arcobaleno will put the Queen in Halloween.

Pinot & Picasso: Halloween Horrors

Pinot & Picasso specialise in paint-and-sip experiences, combining art masterclasses with drinks, music and a party atmosphere. For the spooky season, however, they are offering special family-friendly events, perfect for little monsters!

Get the whole family together to paint an awesome Halloween scene, featuring a spooky sunset, cobwebs, a bat, and of course, a pumpkin. All art materials are included, as well as a talented artist ready to guide you through every step of the way. 

With fancy dress very much encouraged, prizes for the best dressed, and an epic Halloween party playlist, this event is perfect for creative kids and their grownups to channel their creepy creativity, while having a super spooky blast. 

Priced at just £20 per person for a three-hour session, the Halloween Horrors session is available during half term on Thursday 26th October from 10:30 am until 1:30 pm.

Halloween Floral Pumpkin Workshops

Can’t get enough creepy craft activities? Give your pumpkin a new, beautiful lease of life with expert florists who will help you to create a beautiful floral centrepiece from your pumpkin. 

Brighton Flower Company are offering a 2-hour floral arranging workshop to create a pumpkin centrepiece this Halloween. With no previous knowledge of flower arranging required, you will be expertly guided through innovative flower arranging techniques, allowing you to create the perfect Halloween centrepiece. 

Also on offer is the pumpkin carving and floral arranging workshop at the stunning One Garden Brighton, a walled garden in the beautiful Stanmer Park. Guided by expert floristry tutors from Plumpton College, you will create a stunning pumpkin display using fresh seasonal flowers. 

All of the decorations, tools and flowers you need will be provided, including fresh and beautiful flowers and greenery, and additional vibrant decorations. 

Whichever workshop you choose, you will leave with brand-new knowledge, techniques and skills, as well as a show-stopping floral pumpkin centrepiece to decorate your home, just in time for Halloween!

Horror Film Marathon: Brighton Film Club

If your ideal Halloween event is more gory than gorgeous, then Brighton Film Club’s night of short horror films from around the world may be for you. 

Hosted (or should I say, ghosted) at The Rose Hill, brave guests can enjoy expertly selected spine-tingling shorts and hair-raising horrors, all while sipping on a beverage or two from the bar. Plus, you can bring your own food! So come prepared with plenty of popcorn, and get ready to be spoooooked.

Potion Cocktail Making

During the Halloween season, from Oct 16 to Nov 5, The Cauldron (a fantasy-inspired cocktail bar and pub) opens its doors to witches, wizards and spellcasters for a potion-themed cocktail experience. 

Guests use a working magic wand to receive a welcome drink, as well as to interact with the spookily decorated workstation to create their own molecular drinks. 

With alcohol-free options, child tickets and student discounts, magical folk from all walks of life can enjoy creating and sipping their spooky drinks in the magical atmosphere of The Cauldron.

Halloween Costume Making

For young fashionistas and budding designers aged 6-11, The Fashion School Brighton is running a 5-day course of workshops on creating your very own Halloween costume from sustainable fabrics. 

With a huge collection of materials and patterns available, as well as 5 days of expert tuition to help your child develop their clothes-making skills, this course is the perfect way to make a spooky outfit, have fun and learn all at the same time. 

Suitable for all levels of experience, from beginners to more advanced needlesmiths, the course runs from 9 am – 1 pm Monday to Friday in half-term and is priced at £375 per student.

Spooky Poetry Workshop 

Fancy learning how to write about death, darkness and fear? Look no further than the Spooky Poetry Workshop hosted by the author of Body Compost & Other Ghost Poems: Éloïse.
