The Great Elf-scape At Pier Pressure In Brighton: Review

From the 24th of November 2023 until the 8th of January 2024 at 94 Gloucester Road, Pier Pressure Brighton is offering a seasonal special to their escape rooms, in the form of The Great Elf-scape. Promising (and proving!) to be the ‘perfect bit of mad Christmas fun’ for families, groups of friends or colleagues, this is one not to be missed.

About The Great Elf-scape in Brighton

We were greeted by a friendly staff member who ran through the rules, do’s and don’ts and got us excited for the escape ahead. Before long, our host came jingling down the stairs in full character as Morris, a merry and enthusiastic Christmas Elf.

After getting us in the festive spirit by giving us seasonal headwear, he led us to the grotto and explained the pickle: after a particularly heavy Christmas party, the presents are all jumbled up, and the elves need us to make sure the right person gets the right present.

The escape room itself was just the right level of difficulty for our group of five, comprising escape room first-timers as well as seasoned escapees. I won’t give too much away, but there was a fantastic range of puzzles to solve and seasonal surprises to keep us on our toes, all accompanied by festive music.

Be warned – the hour flies by! Once or twice, we did need to jingle for a clue, which helped to get us back on track. But we managed to solve the room just in time, with 4 minutes to spare.

After solving the room, Morris emerged out of character as Simon and awarded us with badges, a card with our team name and stamps to represent our strengths, before taking a festive team photo.

The Verdict on this escape room

Whether you’ve done zero or sixty escape rooms before, The Great Elf-scape provides a fully immersive and spectacularly seasonal experience with challenging, entertaining and surprising puzzles. Don’t miss this!

Pier Pressure is also running two other Christmas experiences and these are called A Christmas Carol and Father Christmas Grotto.
